Oh. Dear.
Well if you haven’t already heard the tallest waterslide in the world, yes, that’s right, the world, has now officially opened in Kansas City called the “Verruckt” which means “insane” in German. They had me at tallest waterslide, but insane? Now I am downright scared!
Schliterbahn Waterparks have been testing the thrill ride for months leading up to its official opening, even pushing back the grand opening to make sure of its 100% safety. In early tests, rafts carrying people sized sandbags flew off the slide, prompting engineers to tear down half of the ride and reconfigure some of its angles at a cost of $1 million. After lots of testing and configuring, the custom slide has been unveiled. With a 264 step climb and sweet little signs that remind you when you have now passed the height of The Statue of liberty and Niagara Falls, the wait is over. You finally get to the top overlooking the plains of Kansas City and wishing you were on solid ground.
Early reviews are coming in to the tune of: “you go airborne”, “feels like you are falling off a cliff” to “*#@&”! The 70 mph isn’t for the faint of heart, but for those who are looking to have their heart stop for a second or two–Good times!
